Sunshine 1 (Music) — Ages 3–4 (new this winter)

A first music class for three- and four-year-olds.

In 45 minutes a week, children explore singing, rhythm and the keyboard through games and play suited to their age and stage. Parents and guardians join in for every class.

Thursdays, 10:00–10:45am, January 7 to March 11 (10 classes). $225. Small group, up to 6 children, with Ellie Hedges.

Bring a friend or family member to class in the last week of term, March 8–12.

Sunbeams 1 (Piano) — Ages 5–6

Your child’s first real piano lessons — with you right beside them.

Sunbeams 1 is where the MYC® method begins for five- and six-year-olds. Over the term your child will learn where the notes live on the keyboard, read music on the grand staff, play with both hands together, and sing in solfège — all through games, songs, and MYC’s keyboard “critters” rather than drills. By the end of the year they’ll be playing three-note chords, crossing hand over hand, and singing a full solfège scale. For a six-year-old, those are big, visible wins.

This is a group class, and you’ll be in it. Parents sit alongside their child for every lesson — you learn the material together, which makes the ten minutes of practice at home something you do together, not something you have to nag about.

Small groups. A piano or keyboard at home is required.

Sunbeams 1 runs across three terms from September to June. The winter term is 10 classes on Wednesdays, 3:45–4:45pm, January 6 to March 10. This group started in September and is closed to new students; email info@nelsonstudio88.com to join the list for next fall.
