Sunbeams 1 (Piano) — Ages 5–6

Your child’s first real piano lessons — with you right beside them.

Sunbeams 1 is where the MYC® method begins for five- and six-year-olds. Over the term your child will learn where the notes live on the keyboard, read music on the grand staff, play with both hands together, and sing in solfège — all through games, songs, and MYC’s keyboard “critters” rather than drills. By the end of the year they’ll be playing three-note chords, crossing hand over hand, and singing a full solfège scale. For a six-year-old, those are big, visible wins.

This is a group class, and you’ll be in it. Parents sit alongside their child for every lesson — you learn the material together, which makes the ten minutes of practice at home something you do together, not something you have to nag about.

Small groups. A piano or keyboard at home is required.

Sunbeams 1 runs across three terms from September to June. This is the fall term — 13 classes, with our Open House December 14–17.
